To mark the end of 2022 as the Year of Special Needs, the Cree School Board hosted the “Stronger Together” symposium in Gatineau from November 29 – December 1, 2022. The symposium, which was organized in collaboration with the Cree Nation Government and Cree Board of Health, hosted workshops, presentations, discussion groups and on-site support sessions for 300 parents and caregivers of individuals with special needs from Eeyou Istchee.

DPSS Interim Coordinator Aimee-Elizabeth Parsons and PPRO-Team Leader Arnaituk Gagnon-Auclair were part of the planning committee that worked for a year to organize the symposium.

DPSS team members also took an active role during the symposium, with Cynthia Miller-Lautman, Trevor Friesen, Aimee-Elizabeth and Arnaituk giving presentations and hosting workshops.
